Remember Peter Jones sinking his boat at Lake Wahapo

Correct me if wrong. Think it is a very early picture of Arnold's motors garage Whataroa. The speedboat looks like the well known J K Loo of Kaniere club owned and driven by Jack Kelly. Confirmation would be great. Kevin O'Regan

Mark Bazza, agree it is too short for JK Loo. Do not remember wee loco. I was posted to Whataroa full time for Ferguson's in 1970, though worked further South on various works including the Waitangi deviation when be bridge built plus the big wall Milton and others stopbank. Wahapo was a very active club both Led and Alan Arnold had boats plus of course Blue Derry, Peter Jones and others. When the Waitangi river changed course via wahapo the lake lost its pristine clarity and had a lot of debris floating through. Rotoiti, Kaniere and Wahapo made up the Christmas circuit with many boating families spending several days in Whataroa annually. Jack Kelly and several others were regular guests of ours and bunked in our workshop facilities. Beds, toilets showers etc. Was a great time with great people. Thanks for the post Bazza.
