Not many will remember but Ron and Nelly Gardiner were the proprietors from 1949 to 1959. They brought the Hotel up to a very high standard in 1953. It was very popular with both travellers and locals. Eddie Carley worked there as a barman. The hotel was the de facto club house for the
Marist Rugby League club until they built there own premises on the Rec Ground.
