DescriptionJames (Jimmy) Donovan, was born on 4 January 1867 in Hokitika to Michael O'Donovan, born in 1842 in County Cork, Ireland, and Catherine Lynch, born in 1842 in Skibbereen, Ireland. He married Eva Frances Patrick in 1895 and together they ran Donovan's Store until his death in 1955.

Glenn Johnston.." The widow Mrs Eve Donovan left Okarito and lived in an old house at 85 Hampden Street, Hokitika in her retirement. She was a big age when she died in the 1960's. Gordon (a relation) and Sarah Oliver built on the site after the demolishion of the old house.
