Pauline Naylor except it’s highly likely she was forced to leave teaching because she was getting married. It’s not well known that employment opportunities were few & far between for women, teaching was one of those and then only for unmarried women, once they married they were obliged to leave regardless of whether they wanted to continue.

Alaine Bright my parents got married in 1949, and my mum had to give up her job because women didn't work after they were married. That's 40 years after the teacher got married.
