Richard Beck was a 4x removed first cousin of my children on their father's side.
Richard was born in Australia to English parents and came to Hokitika as a child. He married Margaret Staines, in 1894 and whose parents had a grocery store. In 1904 Margaret died so Richard moved to Westport where he continued to be a butcher and remarried and had a family of 3 children.Date of Photo1900Map^[1]ContributorMaye Dunn

I did my Apprenticeship at the Kaniere Butcher shop in the early 1970s under then owner Bill Manera.

One of great uncles Massey Woolhouse owned the butcher shop for a number of years. I remember going there in the early 1950s
