- Cars on a partially competed section of the Haast Pass highway. The road is unsealed and on the right hand side of the image can be seen a section of ridge partly cut away. There is much loose spoil and rock on the down hill slope from the road and some native forest can be seen.

Did that trip that year in our little VW with my mate Paul Simpson from Nelson. My wife Glenyse & I were living in Whangarei at the time but but visiting her parents in Brightwater.
