It became a victim of our 88 floods and was totally renovated. Where the flood wall is now was once the railway line as well as the station. The trains (stèam) and later the railcars from Westport down would let us all off and we would catch them again in the afternoon to go home.Simon Fox
Had the privilege to look inside and see it working thanks to Dave Shields. He worked in there for quite some time. Coal burner to keep him toasty warm against that Barber!

Lovely to see this in such good condition. I passed it many many times on my bike on the way to High school... in the days before the new bridges, before Smith street deviation was finished, and while we still had working STEAM ENGINES in Greymouth
