Actually it's a Reg Skelton photo out of my West Coast fishing history file.Going by the length of the breakwater.Happy to be corrected.

Spent a bit of time down there myself in the 60s, cannot remember that.

I think that crane may have been gone by the 60's (could be wrong) but it waas certainly still there mid to late 50's. I can recall seeing it working.

The crane was definitely their although a rusty hulk i used to play on it

Actually needs an update / correction because it it the South tip head you can see the signal station between the crane and the boxing the guys are sitting /on. and the Blaketown beach on the right
