DescriptionArmy Area Officer - Captain STEVENS, and Sid WOODS (later Captain Sid WOODS), inspect the old small artillery gun in Victoria Square, sometime before the 1940 War. (Boer War cannon - 3 metres long barrel of brass & steel, gun carriage included 2 large wheels, the cannon was sited at Victoria Square at the end of the Boer War, it was one of the largest guns used by NZ troops in South Africa and was returned to NZ and put on display in Westport.)
