Well I recognize Ken Smeaton so it must have been the late 1950's as Ken was at Christchurch Teachers' College with me 1960-61

It might seem a small point but as it is a history site I think we should get the name of the school correct. At that time it was Greymouth Technical High School. Generally referred to by all as GTHS.

The debate about dates surrounding this image: Marilyn van Eysden and others stated anything from 1956 to 958. It definitely wasn't 1957 as on the Old School Friends site there is The 4L class photo that includes both Marilyn and Lyndsey McKay. https://web.archive.org/.../InstitutionPhotoView.aspx... I think I'll stick to my knitting and go with 1958.
