The following soldiers, invalided home, arrived by the Otira express last evening: Lieut. W. Iredale.
Private A. E. Bernhart, Westport.
Private F. H. Gospodntich, Westport.
Private N. E. Dean, Westport.
Private B. Erridge, Westport.
Private T. H. Mallott, Westport.
Private W. C. Mitchell, Westport.
Private A. Parsons, Westport.,
Private S. Brand, Hokitika.
Private A. E. Dreckman, Hokitika.
Private J. W. Gray, Hokitika.
Private L. F. Martyn, Hokitika,Private !. Davidson Greymouth.
Private A. Johnson Greymouth.
Private T. P. Malloy, Reefton.
Private F. Cook, Reefton.
All the above are walking cases. They .were met at the Greymouth railway station by Mr. J. D. Lynch,who welcomed home the battle-scarred warriors in suitable terms. 'His men were heartily cheerful and immediately left for their respective homes or billets.
Work will be needed to care for the poor broken survivors . . there will not be the excitement of preparing for a convoy of wounded, or of passing through a casualty clearing station the large numbers of recently wounded. There will not be the interest of foreign service or the tension of the submarine danger on transport or hospital ships, but . . there will be the daily care, week in and week out, of the helpless, injured, incurable ones, the phthisical cases so hard to manage, and to bear with, the nerve cases so fractious and despondent.
