Before you look back with the old saying "The old day's were better" just remember what they were like. More shops, less goods, expensive products, import restrictions.Today there is more on-line shopping,we are more mobile and shop away. The town has all it needs. If more were needed ,there would be a shop opening up to cater for it. The truth is there is more available now that ever, far more dining places,Warehouse, electrical shops etc. Less men's wear shops but if people didn't shop there, well they close.
Justine Warren Pearce
Peter Robertson when we were there last year, found it hard at the weekend to find a cafe open to have lunch and a cup of coffee.
Mike Henderson
Peter Robertson nah was better then.. remember coming up from Hoki..

Peter Robertson can't get your gist, or where you're coming from, why have hundreds left, peter? When I was growing up, knew nearly everyone, where have all the Stanton's, gone, nelson and others gone, ex business men etc, lovely beach, when I was young, these days, peter, peter, people don't live, in greymouth, hardly exist, worse, when young ones have to leave, plus, you don't find many going back to live, cheersSonia Dando

Great memories no matter what everyone says ! Just a sign of the times sadly…. A lot of small towns are the same and yes online shopping is part of the problem… Still love going back .. once a coaster always a coaster .. can’t beat a sunshiny day on the coast !!

Bruce Tones
Saali Marks nope a lot hotter then, swimming in the lagoon, and sea, early October,
