Perhaps 73 but two of the teachers are wearing the same clothes as 1974 class and sports photos. The absence of Arthur Nicol may also indicate that it is the 1974 photo?

Some of the teachers were there in the 60’s.Mr. Crossman was the Headmaster of the Primary School, Mr.Howat was a former pupil.Mrs.Hunter was in the office and also played the piano for Assemblies.

Gosh, doesn’t Lou Sanson look like his mum! Great photo. I would’ve thought Stan retired before Arthur Nichol Mr Young must’ve just retired too. Colin Larson had moved on.

Kay Nichols Arthur Nichol was a WW2 veteran. He was quite frail in 1993 when our year had a reunion and some of our class went and visited him.

Greg Mait I had forgotten about the socks. He always wore shorts and socks to the knee, folded with regimental precision and exactness. Must have had elastic ties to keep them in position or he had them tattooed on hahaha

I went to Westland High. Left in 1968. I didn’t realise Mr Crossman taught there. I thought he was just at the Primary School.

Russell Gugich was the first teacher to give me the Cane, Peter Howat was in my class at school with his twin brother Gary. Henry Pierson went on to become Mayor of Hokitika, he also wrote a nice history book about Hokitika which I have. It’s titled “The Crooked Mile.”
