DescriptionWe made Christmas ornaments from the foil tops. We put them on an orange squeezer to shape them, then strung them together...you can see them on our tree(branch)

We used to get the left over strips (that the lids had been punched out of) at our school and used them for decorations at school discos

We went to the milk factory we got the pieces of foil that had had the tops pressed out from. They could be long enough to hang right across a room and great in Christmas trees. They came in a variety of colours. Sometimes you scored a foot or so of wide unprinted foil.

I also fell over the handlebars of the trike speeding coming back from the beach on Bright St. Last thing I heard was mum yelling to me..."Peta you are going too fast!" I was 5 and spent a scary week in the children's ward with a bad concussion!

We made our decorations. Crepe paper chains etc. These decorations were often left up for most of the following year, looking very sad indeed? Also loved the cream at the top of the milk too?

And the tree was a branch thinning of the pine forest. $5 to the Lions club for future projects. When we lived in England a tree cost £12 a foot. I couldn’t pay that. £60 for one as tall as a tree thinning.

A delightful smile of pure happiness. Some families were able to get the foil-strip that the botletops were cut from, and then hang them accross the room. Lovely memories.
