I attended Marist Brothers School Parkside Timaru 7910 as a day pupil & it was a very unmemorable period in my pre-adolescent life.
The Marist Brothers were cruel!

Well, hang on a minute you lot! All teachers were very strict in those times, not just the nuns and brothers! In case you've forgotten, parents were also extremely strict. It wasn't unusual to get a real thrashing for misbehaving, and I knew families whose children were thrashed for very minor stuff.
There are lots out there like me, taught by Sisters of the Missions, who recall wonderful years.
This is a marvellous photo for almost 100 years old!
