DescriptionWould love some help on this story the 'Barque Alexandria was grounded in 1903 of Brighton near Westport.
My relative Frank Bryan's company Bowater and Bryan bought the ship. I see that 12 months later after the salvage team took over in July 1902 that 12 months later it appears to be sitting on the Rocks.

It says it was sold at auction for £20 along with provisions.

I think some salvage was done but it was not refloated. No one expected it to be refloated and the salvaged stores & other stuff was sold for just 20 pounds. No lives were lost, some salvage was done but in terms of sailing again it was a total loss.

Wreckage appears from the beach gravels at an area called smugglers cove, which could be the same place.
