Certainly did Daphne. Did one trip to Ikamatua with Ted, Don McKay, Martin Mason and Roger Hardy. Your Dad was a pretty entertaining guy on those trips. He managed Mt Hutt Station back in the day and a great guy to know.

Those sports days were best..all kinds.chopping./jigger .underhand for kids...rifle range....running races.. 3 legged races....blindfolded..sack races..egg/spoon races....cheroplanes..

Womens institue/church provided cups tea..food in old shed..no red tape like now..

Remember the sports well. Had greasy pig for the children to ride. Also had a bike race from Post Office corner to Donellys Creek bridge and back each year. I won it three years in a row and have a medal for winning in 1949.Morrie Waddell

I went to Rotomanu primary school for a little while, after Nana passed and Mum was in hospital I went to stay with Grandad in his roadman's hut and I think I was sent to the school when he had to work! I must have been all of 3!
