We had exciting trips to Chch in the forties in Dads Nash…..then the Ford V8 1938…..took 12 hours over Arthur’s in the snow in the StudeBaker …inch by inch , I scraped the road , West Coast side of Porters and Dad crabbed up sideways….good times….

Yes not sure how to send it but will try….Dad saved his war petrol coupons and when I was 4 1/2 took Mum and us four kids on a camping holiday around South Island….I remember it vividly…he made a thermette, a stove portable, the box on the back had a lid which turned into a table …Dad apprenticed as a sheat metal worker at cromptons in Chch when he was at an orphanage….very capable man….everything was made could not afford bought things in those days……
