So much we can learn from the background in these shots. One tree swamp and Red Beech Stream in the background, really interesting!

What a great photo, summing up how they travelled overland in the 1800s to the West Coast. The sheer size of the load. Two privileged people in "the box seat," beside the driver, those on the top sitting above the goods and luggage, exposed to treacherous weather and the danger of falling off. At least six more inside the coach. Four hardy horses that had to be changed at each of the 12-14 staging posts. Walking up behind the coach on the steep climbs. And the terror of the zig-zag coming down the Arthur's Pass !!
