I loved swimming and was having lessons from Mr. McClymont at the baths in Greymouth. I did not like putting my head under water which he found to be annoying and one day when I was standing on the side he pushed me in. That ended my swimming career at about the age of 10.

I was having swimming lessons from Mr. McClymont but couldn’t put my head under the water so he pushed me into the pool when I was standing on the edge and that finished the lessons.

Snowy Rochford taught me to swim... I bought his 50cc Zundapp motor cycle for 15 Quid... its top speed was 32 mph but after I had the motor done up its max was 28mph....
