My father Charles Fensom bought the house and land down to the street in 1967. The house was beautiful. It had a wide winding staircase that went up to the top floor which was a ballroom. My father converted the house into 6 flats. Later he built De Lux motels at the bottom of the section.

This home was originally owned by Michael and Alice Hannan (Hannan & Seddon Solicitors). The top room was used as a music room as the five daughters were very musical There were beautiful lawns and gardens with stables down the bottom on Alexander Street. It burned down September 1988.The day it burned down the last Hannan daughter,Vera Hickman,died. In latter years she had owned the Pelican Tearooms in Mawhera Quay.Another Greymouth party house bites the dust , Puketahi St.early 1980s.
