What are they actually standing on? It looks like one girder of half a bridge.

Loretta Donnelly I'd say Loretta judging by the structure underneath it's wider than it look's. Look's almost like a jetty or prehaps truck's would back up to it to load, obviously strong enough to support a lot of little highland dancer's

Dancing was very popular and my mother did Irish jig, Highland Fling, sailor, barefoot and character dancing and took part in the the regular Competitions.
