Franz Josef Glacier carpark Jan 1969 during family trip to the South Island. Our car was the Hillman Minx parked third from the top of the group, two tone with white roof. Interestingly in the 2nd photo taken from our car whatever the black regal looking car is has met with wee a mishap, also can see people top right walking to the glacier.

I can recall seeing a mark one zephyr convertible parked there in 1965, whilst the owner was up on the glacier the Keas had shredded the convertible hood, dug out the rubber around the windscreen and demolished the wiper blades. I understand the local garage did a great trade in wipers!!

Well, that certainly proves how much the glacier has retreated, doesnt it?
But how could they load a roof rack on a mini? How cruel can people be?
