AddBy: William Gray9th Jan 2023 7:19AMThe ship featured here is the INCHON then owned by the South Korean Shipping Corp, she made five calls here over 1960-61, her sister-ship the PUSAN also made five calls also over 1960-61 loading Roa Coal for Japanese steel Mills, there was a third one the DAISEI which was was owned by Hong Kong owners, and crewed By Australian officers and Hong Kong Chinese crew. They still hold the record for the longest ships to work the Port of Greymouth at 338ft 6in in length, there were 239 them built in the USA and were known as the CI-M-AVI Class, most of them were built around the 1944-45 era. And just as a point of interest, the Seatow Barge SEATOW 4 was 320 ft in length, and the Union Co,s KAREPO was 325ft in length, making her the longest Union Co ship to berth here.
