They still hold the record for the longest ships to work the Port of Greymouth at 338ft 6in in length, there were 239 them built in the USA and were known as the CI-M-AVI Class, most of them were built around the 1944-45 era. And just as a point of interest, the Seatow Barge SEATOW 4 was 320 ft in length, and the Union Co,s KAREPO was 325ft in length, making her the longest Union Co ship to berth here.
