Ken Auld I worked underground in South Wales during the 1960s, no hot tea was provided or toilets. We had to carry in water in a "jack" and tea in a thermos. At one time we had a tea thief--he would sneak tea from the thermos of others. He was caught and held down while his moustache was pulled out with a pair of pliers. Cured him.

We had two,one for each section.took your bottle of milky sweet tea wrapped in newspaper to stay hot and protect the bottle[usually Gordons. Gin40 oz] drink some for smoko,then fill at crib time,put your crib bag in tea box,sent outside to pick up for home.

I do not think this was ever extended. my father always took a bottle of tea up to Roa. Not long before it closed the men were issued with Thermos Flasks, I think 2 per year.

Asbesto if only they new .

Great thermos flask the stainless steel ones,,,, lasted for years and replaced the plastic ones with glass inside that were always breaking one guy ran over his stainless in a bulldozer and was still able to use it,,,which he did for years
