My mother and grandmother were pupils at the Ross Convent School. Marion Carroll and her sister Monica, and brother John. My Grandmother was Dorrie (Dorothea Maude) Heveldt. Her brothers John and Fred also attended. All taught by Sr M. Brendan Troy.

My husband's grandmother was born in Ross in 1874/5.Her name was Agnes Jessie Gordon; father Henry Andrew Gordon (born Aberdeenshire, Scotland 05/01.1830 died Auckland 1917, and mother Mary Ellen Sinclair, haven't got birth at this moment, died 1934 Auckland). Henry Andrew Gordon involved in building bridges etc, mining and also masons .

Des, this photo is so precious of Bessie Cosgrove. Sadly, Elizabeth (Bessie) was the eldest child of Ellen (nee Minehan) and Walter Crosgrove, who along with her six siblings was killed in the landslide at Brunnerton on 25 May 1904. She was likely staying in Ross at her Grandmother's, Hanorah (nee White) Minehan, along with her cousin, Eileen Creagh (also in photo), daughter of Bridget (nee Minehan) and James Creagh of Brunner/Runanga.

When Jack Minehan (Mum's cousin) did his research for his book, "The Minehan Families 1684 - 1990" he didn't have any photos of the family prior to the tragedy, so this may be the only photo of Bessie. The only photo I've seen of Ellen and Walter Cosgrove is with Joe, who was born later, probably taken in 1908 (and in Jack's book).
