I lived in the Waiuta hospital in the late 70s early 80s BEST time of my life no power no phones no internet just good times

WHO was the local then I heard the painters were up there set there paint pot on fire then went home

yep DOC restored it. School parties etc stayed in it. Raised to the ground by arsonists apparent was the word at the time

I heard the hippies lived up there, and got the boot so dropped a match unsure if true, ivr hearda few different stories

Marilyn Corson Ms Corson I was one of those so called hippys and NO we did NOT get kicked out it was sold by Doug Roberson who was born there and then he sold it to the then Forestry Dept witch later become DOC i think u should get u facks right before u open u MOUTH

My family came from waiuta, my grandparents had 7 kids there at the hospital, 2 were born outside of waiuta, 1 in Ashburton and 1 in Auckland. My Nana Jones was pregnant with their 9th child when they left waiuta to Auckland
