the boys on one side and the girls on the other side... waiting to be asked for a dance
Jim Webber
I think it was also named "The Market Place" at one time. Clarrie light studios used to teach music there on Wednesdays.
Eleanor Morel
Jim Webber So they changed premises. Mackay and Tarapuhi streets is just about where the Argus was.
Dale Cherrie
HaHaGood One!!
Des Kennedy
Jim Webber , Clarrie Light used the Masonic Rooms when he first started teaching music. I was one of his first pupils. When I upgraded my guitar Clarrie bought a Horner guitar for me. I still have it but now days it's just suitable as a wall hanging.
Yvonne Lawson
More ladies than men
Cathy Dale
The band is ‘The Familiar Faces’ with the lineup. Drums Errol Goodall, Bass Guitar Paul Rauhihi, Guitar Keith White
Keyboard John Jones. They were a great group with strong vocal harmonies. I was married to the guitarist. It wasn’t very glamorous for me being the girlfriend of a band member because we had to take on one of the jobs. Ticket Box, Refreshments and Coat Check which was my job. I loved the ultra violet lighting which made everything white glow - even dandruff and false teeth!! They were great times.
Russell Knipe
Cathy Dale wow! Long time, no hear.
Nice to know you're still around.
Anthony Farrell
Selwyn Frewin would pull up outside in his big old black Humber Super Snipe after chauffeuring ladies to the dance hall. He'd go round and open the backward facing door for them to alight and stream into the hall. He was such a funny and friendly fella. Had a lot of fun there.
Trish Briggs
Linda Griffin Frances Keating
Miles Reay
Many memories. When I was in the resident band very few patrons would turn up before the movies got out. We’d then play until the early hours of the next morning.
