A flash back to nearly 60 years ago - Jaycees organised a lottery where we would paint the winners house for free - the mayor Ozzie Jackson won first prize - then donated it back to the community by nominating a grandstand in need of a facelift - said it was the first time he had won anything - (other than an election Map^[1]ContributorPeter Spence

It was Mrs Jackson and she donated her prize of 100 man hours to doing the grandstand and Victoria Race Park up for the arrival of the queen. They painted it all and made it look great. I presented the Queen with a token of flowers from the citizens of Greymouth
