Dad played for Kohinoor along with other Blaketown stalwarts before becoming involved in administration for Blaketown RFU. Lifelong friends were forged during this time. Dad was very close to his Uncle Noel who climbed the ranks of Rugby League administration when he went to live in Wellington.
