DescriptionDave Panckhurst, .my grandfather. Born in Greymouth ,married Ellen King from Greymouth. Moved to Reefton where he was a bricklayer all his life along with his son Joe. Also built the round chimney by the Grey River at Taylorville and was responsible for the building of the concrete structures to hold all machinery at Waiuta.Map^[1]ContributorDave Palmer

Along with the many stone/plastered fences and foundations around Reefton City the best example of these great tradesman's enduring treasures would have to be the cenotaph and its symbolic fence.

Dad told me a story Dave and Joe were building a wall in waiuta and Dave had it being supported till it dried young Joe said was ready and removed the supports and the wall fell on Dave didn’t know Dave but Joe was amazing skilled
