Was a great club in the day. Would love to know how much money Frank Jellyman raised for this club doing raffles . What a great guy he was. Danny Obrian coached while i was playing.

When I landed in Grey in my youth we lived in Cobden initially.
Coming from the “other Island” inter collegiate rugby was very big.
In my 1st class at Grey high I met Stephen “birdy” bird.
He dragged me along to a 6th grade Cobden-Kohinoor training.
They had to teach me how to play the ball

So I played 5th Grade Rugby for Cobden on the Saturday morning and 6th Grade league in the arvo for Cobden-Kohinoor.
Old man Murphy used to ref us, he’d rock up in his old EK (?) Holden with his huuuge side burns.
He couldn’t really keep up with us kids but hey, he was always there….
I had the pleasure of playing with some very talented lads in the lower grades at Cobden-Kohinoor
Twisty, killer, Trev Allan, John Steele, Bok Templeman, Andy Anderson, chris “Barney” Barnet, Birdy, Kerry O’Connorr etc etc.
Those pics remind of playing for the Eagle and we had blokes playing reserve grade well into their late 30’s and early 40’s.
Guys like Tom Arangha (spell check) playing for Brunner..
Didn’t matter your age, if a team was short you pulled on a jumper. Great times, hard men and a very valuable social set.
Frank jelly man was always shaking the ice cream container at seniors games, grabbing loose change off anyone at Cobbo’s home ground.
Very fond memories and great players…
