This is up the Taipo so this rope road ran up the north side of the Waimangaroa gorge back to iron bridge and on to the face then to the incline the gorge is on the right side of the picture and Mt William on the left.

Is there still a track from the iron bridge side through to Denniston?

You can still follow this formation. River crossing at the Whippet track and up over a small hill to find the rope-road. It goes for about 1.5ks and terminates at the foundation of an old hauler that provided the motive power to the rope. On the Iron Bridge end, it passed through a stone drive which led out onto the bridge. Well worth the walk.

Possibly my Dad!!! He and his mates used to explore those areas all the time as a lad, he would have been about that age in the 30s. If so I'm guessing that's him second left. I have photos of him wearing clothes like that. Been meaning to post them on here. Will try to add later.
