Gwenyth Elisabeth was born 1928 to miner Cecil Noble Antonio (Tony) Inwood (1890-1966) and Mabel Alice (May) nee Currie who married in New Zealand in 1921. Prior to his wedding Antonio worked as a cook in Karamea at a timber or gold mining camp.
The Inwood family were from Seddonville, somewhat north of Westport. They moved there in 1926 from Palmerston Street Westport, and before that were based in Granity. It was fairly typical for mining families to move often following work.
Gwenyth had 5 siblings; Alice Joyce Hardy (1922-1990), Alan John Inwood (1923-2011), Darcy Noble Inwood (1925-2012), Eric Ernest Inwood (1926-1996) and Leslie Harold (Les) Inwood (1926-2014).
Amazingly I was actually able to find a photo of Gwenyth, she's on the left with all of her brothers and sisters.
It is amongst a number of ephemera listings from the West Coast dating 1920s-1930s, probably from the same estate including items from the Buller Farmers’ Society, Westport RSA, Grey Caledonian Society, and Buller Representative Footballers Association.
Obviously the fact this person retained the memorial card means the Inwoods had some significance to them. None of the siblings ever seem to have had an association with Marlborough where these items ended up, but it is quite possible they belonged to a grandchild of Antonio and May and ended up in a deceased estate.
