DescriptionNoticed this on a topo map dated from 1979. It is a track line marked as CASCADE - PYKE ROAD (OVERGROWN) and seems to follow the 1884 survey line.

There is a book somewhere about the Bulldozers going down the cosast to the Pyke river. I think the airstrip above the Gorge river may have been a separate event. They are mentioned in Robert Longs book on his life at gorge river.

We followed the remains of this track after coming off the Red Hills. There was a drilling camp in the upper Pyke below Red Mountain but if the track ever got dozed that far you would think the above bushline sections would still be there, maybe they are. There were still odd bits of timbers and steel at a drilling pad near Stag Saddle, presumably all chopper accessed.
