Looks like he has tacked some corrugated iron to that tree to stop the possums from getting onto his roof

Ha ha , note the corrugated iron on the tree trunk ! Was to stop possums climbing on his roof. George used to refer to it as skid alley! Another old Whataroa identity that ekked out a modest living on alluvial gold. Dropped him home many occasions from Whataroa hotel.

I remember the day I walked to work at Robbies shop after lunch. All along the road I picked up coins and more coins. George came into the shop later in the day and told us how he'd discovered he'd had a hole in his pocket and lost all his changed on the way down. He was pleased to recieve what I'd found back again.
