The photo of Jack walking down the road is just Sth side of Bonar creek Bridge, and the starting point of Langridges contract early 60's. Our camp was an old farm house bottom side of road near Gardiners. I was a young operator and this pic is where contract commenced about midway. Jack and his family went from here to Pioneer Hotel in Hokitika. Superb family and I can still hear Jack laughing in my sleep.

Kevin Oregan yes Kevin it is hard to believe that this was the main road past our place.
I can still hear that laugh as well

Hellen Morris Your father was a lovely man, had some lovely times at the Pioneer. Great memories, and life was certainly a lot simpler then. Hope you are well.

Hellen Morrishi Helen, I remember you and your sister so well you spunky looking young things you were. Great days and both you and I were both blessed to have been bought up in the country with loving parents. Thanks for comment but golden memories of an Era gone for ever.

Most of us were sons and daughters of returned servicemen.
Ian Donaldson
Great man was with dad in the 23rd battalion and then a great host as a publican
Robert Donaldson
Ian Donaldson always wondered which Battalion Uncle Bob served with. I know Dad and Uncle Bob served during the Italian campaign. Dad served with the Artillery. Our Grand father passed away during their overseas service. I pretty sure they started during the Egyptian campaign
Dave Lyes
Robert Donaldson Crete and Nth Africa as well. Although my dad was too young to serve WW2 he could state line and column about every local soldier where and when. He often spoke of Jack when we talked together about the local men/women who served.
Doreen Thomson
An old friend of my fathers and a lovely man
Sandra Douglas
My grandparents..Jack Owens &, Ellen Elizabeth , with my mother Emily, Aunty Lila, uncle Jack, Uncle Bill, Uncle Vic lived on the hill on opposite side road & kids went to Duffers creek school.
Kevin Oregan
Sandra Douglas wow Sandra thank you for post. But you were back towards Puke on top of Ianthe hill. The old Duffers creek Pitt brings back many memories. Robinsons contractors, Fergusons and others . Great people, great locality especially Pat and Pearl with the place rocking. Accordions and a few guitars still in my memory bank.
Roger Gardiner
Lovely to see those pics again. Hope you are riding a winner up there Uncle Jack!
Uncle, we have this great mare who we think may be a late entry into the Melbourne Cup. Can’t give the name away but when you’re in the bar tonight, can you ask all the Saints what they think and, hopefully send us on the path with some divine intervention, just saying.
Great post Hellen. Love from Val and me. XXOO
Robert Wilkinson
