36 Sqn. Jack Flood was the CO. I was one of the cadets in Greymouth from 1970 to the end of 1973, then joined the RNZAF in January 1974. I retired last year after 50 years and 2 months working in the Air Force 36 years in uniform and 14 years as a civilian.

I was in the ATC in Mosgiel in the late 60s/early 70s what a way to spend your youth firing .303 rifles Bren guns flying around in Harvard's Iroquois Hercules spent hours and hours in a Link Trainer ( Flight Simulator) what a time for a young person You can keep all your game boy and play stations doing all this when I was young lad was great and REAL

Desmond Kennedy, old chap ! Pretty sure early 1960's. Yes Harvey was a local legend with a cultured voice ( probably 'cos of his 3YZ manager's history ). Still have my 'Firing Range Supervisor/Instructor's Booklet - .22, .303 & light machine gun.
