I feel fortunate to have two of Rod's paintings, late 1970 rural scenes in sepia colours. We adopted Rod and Carol's dog a corgi cross 'Oscar' when they moved with their family to Australia.

A very talented artist who lived at 70 Shakespeare Street. My mother loved his art and brought two of his paintings. Both in brown tones as it was the 70’s. One was named ‘Somebody’s darling’ a headstone at Miller Flat. The other was a bush scene. My b… My brother has both on his wall in Auckland. The late Larry Trowbridge had one too. In pinks and mauves a cemetery. When he died his wife gave it to me and I gave it to the Left Bank Gallery in the 1990’s. I wonder if they still have it?
Re his house: A big villa painted deep red.

I met Rod again in Christchurch when her was living in a house in Avonside. I believe he was a diabetic and that contributed to his death. In the mud 1970s Rod was painting in a room at the Victoria Park raceway.
