The guy in the middle of the second row,next to Bill Mumm is Ollie Smallholme who would probably be Captain. He captained the Combined team in 1949.

My Uncle Allan Luff is in the front row not the back row. I remember many of these names from living in Hector. Allan trialled for the All Blacks. He was halfback.

Which one is Allan ?I know mum said Fred Luff had a store out country .? And on a recent visit to Westport,I visited a dairy on corner of Derby Street,and had a chat with my rallie Noel Luffs son

Dell Robertson Allan is third from right in the front. My pop and Nana had a shop in Hector. My grandfather had a brother George. The story is my grandfather was the first white child born in the Buller.

Kay Hall yes mums Uncle Arthur,and Fred Luff ,had the store at Hector ,before my time of course ,of living there ,My mums dad was James Luff,who was a early blacksmith,and I was told a pub named the Pioneer,floated away with its lights still on in a flood.My grandma Luff was blind,but played the piano
