DescriptionThe site has two mills, as regulations at the time allowed at the time an addditional block of 200 acres of forest for each sawmill owned.Sawmillers often constructed dummy mills, which although capable of working, were in reality only built to qualify for extra milling rights.

I never knew there was mills in ross . I knew there was 2 in hari hari an one at pukekura my dad worked in that in 1960 till 1988 when it closed .Bill Rex Matthews
Big mill site knew there was a mill in Ross didn't no how big heard a few stories from mates that worked there l worked with a few at Ruatapu yeah very surprised at the size of that ross mill some of the old fullas told me how some used to catch the train into hoki and back lol.
