The poster advertised the 1923 British and Intercolonial Exhibition which celebrated the opening of the Otira Tunnel... incidentally the first aeroplane came over to the West Coast by train. Called the 'Blazing Arrow', paid flights were 10 minutes from the airstrip south of the river.
The airport and Heritage Park are celebrating 100 years of flight this coming weekend.Map^[1]ContributorDavid Verrall
