My great grandmother travelled from Cornwall at the age of 18 on her own to NZ.
Ship to Lyttelton,
Walked the Bridal Path,
Coach to Greymouth,
Barge on the Grey River to Kamaka
Horseback to No Town to her two sisters and their husbands.
What a pioneer!!

Wow great to see this, poor horses. Gosh would of been pretty scary for the ladies. My relatives owned the otira hotel at a time in these day’s, so can just imagine how thank they would of been to get there to rest!! And drink
