They were both born at Gallaghers Creek, that is up by Nelson Creek Grandma was born in 1881 and Cormick was born in 1879. Doesn't look like it. There was only one ever McDavett child born historically in NZ in 1921 Francis Arthur to Cecil Michael Garland and Mary Louisa MdcDavett, this is likely a misspelling of records. All of the other records are under McDavitt with an I, and his records are under Cormack with an A. He married a Mary Ellen Kelly in 1928. This was Kelly's second marriage. It is possible there were children but I have not run across any mentions. There is a note he was possibly adopted. Profession listed as Railway surfaceman.
This was interesting. 5 February 1896 John McDavett, (Solicitor), charged with conspiracy and subsequently committed to Lunatic Asylum, etc. A relative?
