A very sporting bunch, rugby players Barry Pearson, Jim Rudd both Exes, Mike Gray, Kiwis, Mike Thompson great golfer, all great roll models for young Hoki kids.
Wendy Perkins
I had Mr Thompson top right - can still visualise his disturbing corporeal punishments. Also had Mr Grey - is that him right end of 2nd row? I thought he was cool.
Glenn Johnston
I was there then and could name most of those teachers. Mr John Reynish was my teacher that year. He ran a well disciplined class and I also had a lot to do with him being a rugby ball boy as he ran the Westland Sub Union ball boys and was a referee. Interesting that that the dental nurses are in the teachers photo.

Mrs Bell front row left... Jack Crossman principal in the centre... and Judy Chapman I think front row right
Glenn Johnston
Have Mrs Clancey and Mr Beaumont (Allan) been mentioned yet? They are there?
Janet Sutton
Nice to see Mrs Crossman there too. Mr Gilbert was an amazing man, Mike Grey was a cool teacher, as was John Reynish. Is that Jennifer Howat 4th from right? Taught me in a prefab classroom. She was lovely.
Greg Mait
Is Joan mcGrath there . She was one of the very best
Carolyn Murphy
Gosh. That's memory lane.
Robert Skilton
Trish Barry Andrews and i believe he passed away quite young as well, in his late 50s. He is buried up at Seaview from memory and looking around there when I make a visit to the place
Karen Blanchfield
I taught with several of these teachers in 1976. If my memory is right, Una Gilbert in front row lost her son in a climbing accident that year.
Fiona Pollard
Mr Reynish was a really scary teacher... i remember early mornings he often made us all stand outside arms stretched out and stretch our fingers in and out 50x times... and growl if our arms started to drop... and loved smacking the ruler on the desk from behind a kid.
Sally Max Bateup
Is that Nurse Naper?
John Reed
Mrs Gilbert was my teacher when I started there
Tina Taylor
Rosalie Sugrue Here's a blast from the past!
Sue Fraser
Recognise all these teachers...Mrs Sugrue in the back & Mrs Gilbert in the front, not sure who the older teacher is next to her?
Roger Smith
Taught w Mike Grey at Runanga. Amazing dedication travelling from Hoki, daily. And his silky speed on attack Rugby-wise, always amazed me. Gr8 bloke.
Kath Stopforth
Lose his temper!
Kath Stopforth
I see Mrs Gilbert, she was lovely. Also Mrs Chapman, and Mrs Sugrue... The one with the bowl haircut. Jack Sugrues wife. Also Mr Rudd, who taught us little kids, and he used to really loose

Fn Mike Thompson. He hated me because I can’t sing. And I was loud. Wished I’d gone to DrBryant home and sung Doh a deer to him. He gave me the strap for talking, when I was asking what page are we supposed to be on. Many times. I’m glad school isn’t like that anymore.
Marilyn Paterson
There are a lot of teachers I don’t know in this photo, our class went to the new school for Std 4,Malc Gooch was the teacher,he left to go to Ross, we had Mrs OBrien for the last term. Next year,we went back to the old Primary school where we had John Reynish, then more classrooms were ready at Park St,so back to Std 6 and the lovely, respected, folk dancing Mr Tom Gilbert, he brought to school a recording of The Hindenburg crash,I’ve never forgotten that!
In the whole of school,I never got the strap, but some teachers were strap happy!
Sally Max Bateup
Is that Nurse Naper?
Chris Sinclair
