This is a small reminder of the power and greatness we once held in this country, until our wealth had built the ivory towers in the urban centres and their inhabitants had grown fat and weak enough in their “self sufficiency” to forget where their comfort had come from. And now we have become their playground and scenic traverse. It’s time we re-established our place as an economic powerhouse of the nation and stopped letting them dictate to us what we “must or must not” do.

Nick Reedy yep mate, but would you see the Auckland harbour bridge just fade into the history pages after a massive storm or the likes?

Nick Reedy they never built a new bridge there as it was a shit section to build a bridge.
I've read somewhere that when they built it they struggled to find a hard bottom to anchor the piles properly. With the mine shut it was never going to be redone.
With the timeline for the bridge at Brunner it made way more sense to build a bridge to Stillwater

Ithink that a bailey bridge was put acccross a washed out peer but then another section got washed away never built a new bridge CHEERS
