That must have been one heck of a ride. How long did it take?

Maureen Bedford 3 days in 1866 Chch-Hoki, which shortened as the railway reached Otira or Arthur's.
After WW1 the coach ran from Otira to AP until the tunnel opened in 1923.
The Hall Coach is at the Heritage Park in Hokitika, the last coach to do the journey 3.8.1923.

The Bealey, as well as being a staging post, was an important accommodation place when the river was in flood.
