DescriptionOld A-FRAME Church at Springs Junction. When was this church built, by whom? I cannot find anything on the history of this little church.

Yes my Father Darrell Latham had the Church built in the early 1970,s.
It was dedicated by Bishop Peter Sutton of Nelson and Reverend Michael Smart the Anglican Minister Reefton for the people in the Maruia Valley to use for Church Services and Weddings.
Later my Dad lifted the Church to the Maruia Valley.

I think Darrell Latham the chemist in Reefton had something to do with it and I think Gordon Havel was involved in the building of it our youngest son was christened unit over 50 years ago

Also we held the service for my mother’s funeral there in 1978. I remember that regular church services were held there in the 1960-70s the ministers came out from Reefton.

I am sure Darrel Latham did build the little Church. Not sure if Dad (Gordon Havill) had anything to do with the build. He was involved with most things that happened at the Junction so very likely he did.

My Grandmother Lillian Blackadder a Maruia pioneer, donated the christening font for this church.
I think it may have been built in the late 60s by Darryl Latham. I can remember it being used by all denominations.

This Plaque was on the organ inside St John's Community Church Maruia.
It was a Plaque dedicated to my Mothers Father who was a Reefton local and very musical.
My Mother Nessie Latham played the organ for some services.
