Tubby Cain invented the 1st legrope about 1963 after he was nearly drowned at Cobden when he lost his board. We all then made them- a hole through the fin, a piece of lifesaver reel rope, and a circle of car tube to take the bite out of the rope when it stretched. Worked perfectly and was well in advance of the later ones in the late 60's. Thanks Tubby. He saved me multiple long swims and beaten up boards on the rocks. Muzza, have you got any surfing photos of us? Or does anyone?

That wreck is the Able Tasman and the boiler in the wave trap was the Kaponga.
