No it was Uncle Tom Gaines Aunty Lil was a Bergman I think that was right

Bev Johnston yes 100% correct she was my mothers Aunt, and lived in the dwelling, this is her on the left.

Aileen Thornley No I haven’t we used to have lots of contact with our cousins in the olden days but I was younger and family trees and asking anything wasn’t done our parents knew

Bev Johnston Lilly told Joyce her daughter that she remembered Tom and his brother Jack walking past her school at Kakapotahi in 1932 on the way to ask for work, Lilly was 13 at the time, they were at her house when she got home from school and they stayed In Kakapotahi for quite some time before moving on to work in the North Island Tom came back to marry Lilly in 1937
I think it is a lovely story

Jack was my father he was really close to Tom and sister Cora they came back south and Dad lived with them through the depression doing farming and building for them for his board I think Joyce or Eileen as she uses went back to the Coast after her husband died I haven’t heard from her since Aunty Lill was famous for her Lillie’s that she grew in chch mum had a newspaper write up about them
